SARK FILMS MISSION:
To break ground by making films that defy limitations and stereotypes. Making heartwarming and fun projects that primarily give women, immigrants and people of color roles on and off the screen that they haven’t had the opportunity to have, in genres like coming age, comedies, and musicals.
About Sark Films:
When I first moved to LA, I was told by my agents and managers at the time that in order to be successful in this industry, I had to have an American sounding name. For years, I went by a stage name that never felt authentic to me, simply because of the "notion" that my Armenian name wasn't successful sounding.
Cut to years later, I become pregnant with my first born child, and everyone tells me more lies. I was told how I was going to have to say goodbye to my career and put my dreams on hold. Many women feel the need to choose between career and family, and my experience has been quite the opposite. My children and my husband have enhanced my career and expanded my capabilities to handle anything and everything.
Then 2020 hit, and with the world in transformation, and so many boundaries and limits being pushed, I had my own epiphany. I come from success, I come from a family that enhances it further!
My grandparents: Leon and Florence Sarkisian both came from nothing. Their parents survived a Genocide and fled to America with the hopes and dreams of a better life. My Armenian grandparents couldn't be prouder to be American. My great grandfather opened up the first ever movie theatre in Lowell Massachusetts, and my grandmother married my grandfather encouraging him to pursue his dreams as well. Grandpa Leon had a dream to own a successful car dealership. And in 1970 after years and years of hard work and determination he made his dreams come true. Sark Chevrolet was one of the most successful Chevrolet dealerships in Florida. My grandparents BROKE GROUND. They defied gravity. They persisted and pursued and they succeeded.
Hence, I launch SARK FILMS. A tribute to my families history and not losing sight of the dreams achieved by breaking ground and limitations.
